Man City become top contenders to sign Antoine Semenyo ahead of Liverpool and Man United

After rumors that Chelsea had shown interest in Antoine Semenyo, the club has already denied the reports. As a result, Manchester City have emerged as the clear favorites to sign the Bournemouth winger.

This season, Semenyo has become one of the standout wingers in the Premier League. After 16 matches, he has recorded eight goals and three assists, making him Bournemouth’s top scorer. With such impressive form, the Ghanaian has attracted interest from several top English clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea had explored the player’s contract situation but have since withdrawn their interest, opting to rely on their current squad. That decision leaves Manchester City as the leading contenders to sign the 25-year-old, potentially as early as January.

Liverpool are also monitoring the situation as they look for attacking reinforcements following Alexander Isak’s injury and Mohamed Salah’s absence at AFCON. Manchester United have likewise made contact over a possible deal, but City currently appear to be the most attractive destination, despite already having several wingers in their squad.

Semenyo is under contract with Bournemouth until 2030 and is reportedly earning £75,000 per week. His release clause stands at £65 million and will be active for the first two weeks of January. The winger joined Bournemouth from Bristol City two years ago and played a key role in helping the club finish ninth in the Premier League last season.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola addressed the speculation around Semenyo’s future: “I understand there is a lot of noise around Antoine. If you ask me, I definitely don’t want to lose him. But every time the transfer window opens, you never know what will happen. He has had moments when he hasn’t scored and has still been very valuable for us. We demand more than just numbers, and he gives us a lot. It’s no secret he is a massive player for us.”

Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Burnley in Gameweek 17, with Semenyo scoring their only goal. The Cherries will face Brentford on 27 December and Chelsea on 31 December, just before Semenyo's release clause becomes active.
